Ken Campbell was a miner man and boy, spending 30 years working underground in the Durham Coalfields.
He took a keen interest in politics and became a local councillor, progressing to be Mayor of Ferryhill on four occasions and is currently Deputy Mayor of Ferryhill.
Watch Ken’s truly fascinating account of his time in the pits.
Our warmest thanks go to Ken for giving up his time and sharing such personal, funny and poignant memories with us and with the community.
This is a wonderful record of the life experiences of a Durham miner and we are so proud to share it here in the hope that it can be a lasting legacy for young people to see and from which to learn about the proud pitman.
