The Wind Road Boys is perfect for schools looking for a new and inspiring way to deliver the national curriculum. The production promotes an array of cross curricular opportunities covering subjects such as history, drama, music, dance, art, media, citizenship.

The production celebrates mining heritage and takes young people on a whistle stop tour of the mining years from 1842 to the current day. The show examines our cultural heritage and the importance of community roots and contributions individuals can make to society. The show explores the role young people played in society and particularly in the mines at the turn of the century.

The production provides fantastic comparative material encouraging young people to identify how different their lives are today to those children who worked in the mines. This musical celebrates community values, tradition and social mobility.

The production is jammed packed with historical facts, anthem style music and large scale dance numbers. The show is particularly relevant to young people as it features both professional cast and young people from County Durham.

"That performance last night was out of this world! I have been to the West End on many occasions and I say this with all sincerity that the performance last night was on a par. Well done to you all for an amazing performance that mixed fun with history and culture with storming performances from everyone involved. Many thanks for inviting me and well done"

Paul McGinnety, Commissioning Manager, Children and Adult Services, Durham County Council
